Study Released On Economic Impact Of Pittsburgh Casino

The Allegheny Institute for Public Policy has released a report on the impact of Pittsburgh's Casino. Eric Montarti, senior policy analyst at the Institute, says projections of yearly revenues for the state exceed $300 million. Montarti says the city of Pittsburgh will also receive at least $10 million per year and possibly more depending on how much revenue the casino actually brings in. Montarti says the money the casino brings in will help the city to fund its pension plan or pay down other long term debts. Money for Allegheny County can be used to pay down various debts or be used in general funding according to Montarti. He says on top of annual payments to the Penguins new arena the casino will bring millions of dollars of revenue to the local area and will help to lower property taxes around the state.
